२६ भदौ बिहान ८:३७ बजे ल्याङटाङ हिमशृङ्खलाको ५,२००–५,६०० मिटरबाट हिउँ-ढुङ्गाको पहिरो खस्यो — यो भूकम्प थिएन, न त सामान्य हिमताल फुट्ने घटना थियो। यसले १६८ कि.मी. उपत्यका पार गर्दै ७.५ घण्टामा झन्डै ६ गुणा आयतन थपेर भोटेकोशी नदी र तल्लो बस्तीहरूसम्म पुग्यो। नक्साका लागि पहिलो तस्बिर हेर्नुहोस्।An avalanche broke off Langtang Lirung at 5,200–5,600m, 8:37am, Aug 26 — not an earthquake, not a typical glacial-lake burst. It ran 168km down the valley in 7.5 hours, gathering roughly six times its starting volume before it reached the Bhote Koshi and the villages below. See the diagram in the first image.
